Board Meeting Minutes

July 7, 2005 7:30 p.m. Central Market Café South

Board members present: Jane Trainham, Kimberly Hall, Tricia Hastings, Suzanne Antonowich, Wade Pelton and Sue Lindsay. Meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m.

Wikazri field property update: At this time Cynthia Garner is not interested in selling her interest in the property.

Tricia Hastings will look into the cost of a more permanent structure such as a carport, and the cost of a custom carport-style structure which would be built to make full use of the north end of the property, where the canopies are now located.

The Clean Run ad was submitted for publication by Tricia Hastings. She will follow up to obtain a publication date.

Wikazri field lock – Kim Galusha may replace the main gate lock if necessary. The club will replace the two locks on the agility field at such a time as it is deemed necessary.

Electricity for shed/light pole for field: Tricia Hastings contacted Design Electric regarding a proposal for adding electricity to the field shed, another light pole, and possibly upgrading the electrical box. The company will contact Tricia Hastings within the next week or two to make an appointment to come to the field to do the estimate.

The board was briefed on the Aggressive Dog policy which will be announced at the general membership meeting on July 20, 2005.

AKC Trial Secretary position (see Nov. 18 2003 minutes), and NADAC Trial Secretary position. At the November 18, 2003 membership meeting, a motion was passed that any paid secretary position should be open to bids. The current board determined that the language should be stronger, and is working on a proposal which will make it mandatory for the Trial Committee Chairman to put the trial secretary position up for bid, beginning with trials held in 2006.

Board member nominations: Jane Trainham, President; Mindy Vescovo, Vice President; Tricia Hastings, Treasurer; Sue Lindsay, Secretary; Jaime Davis and Suzanne Antonowich, Members at Large. The board nominations will be voted on at the September 2005 membership meeting.

Venue change for future AKC Trials: The board determined that K9Xpress will keep the current date and venue for the AKC trial until a better situation overall has been presented to the club.

AKC request for members’ information: Jane Trainham contacted AKC regarding their request for members’ information. AKC replied that they are compiling an electronic database, to contact owners of purebred dogs who compete in AKC events. The board would like K9X members to decide if they would like their information provided to AKC by our club. Members who would like their information sent to AKC by K9Xpress should contact Tricia Hastings and give her permission to send that information to AKC. Members who do not want to have their information sent to AKC will not have to take any steps to prevent this from occurring.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:13 p.m.
