General Membership Meeting Minutes
Present: Jane Trainham, Wade Pelton, Tricia Hastings,
Meeting was called to order at
The secretary’s report was given by Sue Lindsay and accepted; it was posted on the website and also available at the meeting for review.
The treasurer’s report was given by Tricia Hastings and accepted. Recent expenditures include NADAC fees, taxes, awards, and three new tunnels.
Shari Kolding reported that training classes are going well. Most of the classes have been moved to weeknights for the summer season. A new beginner class will start in late June; that class is full, and another beginner class will start sometime this fall.
Shari Kolding reported on membership; there are four new members whose applications were voted on and approved during the meeting.
The members present voted to approve the membership applications of Carrie Bryan, Denise Apperson, Rachel Pennington and Susan Ramsbottom.
Tricia Hastings reported that between the trial and the seminar held in March 2005, the profit totaled about $3,000.00. Kim Galusha said that she continues to hear compliments about our trial when she attends other trials around the state.
Wade Pelton said that the two judges are confirmed for the trial, and we will rent automatic timers for the event.
Jane Trainham said that she has received 8-9 questionnaires back, and will change the member profile monthly on the K9Xpress website.
Sue Lindsay has a draft of the ad finished. There will be a few style changes, which were suggested at the meeting, and then the finished ad will be sent to the email list for verification of the information prior to being submitted to the magazine.
A work day is scheduled for Sunday, May 22 beginning at 9:00 a.m. The shade canopies will be repaired for the time being, weeds will be pulled, tire jumps taped and installed, and other field maintenance needed. Drinks and snacks will be provided, and K9X Bucks will be given for hours worked. Please bring garden tools and gloves if you have them, as there are a lot of weeds to pull, and we have limited equipment at the field. There will be a delivery of mulch following the work day.
Automatic timers: Wade Pelton determined that it was best for our club cost-wise to continue to rent automatic timers for our trials rather than purchase timers for the club. Rental costs about $40.00 to $50.00 per day, plus an entry for a dog at the trial, and the cost to purchase automatic timers is about $7500.00. Wade also pointed out that when we rent timers, they are transported to the trial, set up and operated by someone from the club we rent them from.
Tunnels: Three new show quality tunnels have been purchased and are in use at the agility field.
Canopies: There was discussion on repairing, replacing, or purchasing more permanent and thus sturdier shelter from the sun for the field. Wade Pelton agreed to look into the cost of carport structures; we will repair and make do with the current canopies until there is information on the cost of carports.
Kim Galusha asked about the board selection process, as the board is due to select a nominating committee during May. New board candidates are to be reported to the secretary by June 20, and elected at the September meeting. A notice will be posted to the email list shortly, requesting volunteers for board positions to submit their names for consideration.
Wade Pelton suggested that we run electricity to the shed at the field, add a light, and consider putting a small fridge in there as well.
Sue Lindsay brought the suggestion for a seminar featuring Ginsey Eubanks to the membership at Nancy Heger’s request.
The meeting was adjourned at
