Austin K9Xpress Agility
Training Club
Board Meeting Minutes
May 5, 2005 7:00 p.m. Central Market Café North
Board members present: Jane Trainham,
Kimberly Hall, Wade Pelton, Suzanne Antonowich, Tricia Hastings and Sue Lindsay.
Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
Old
Business:
Meet the Member: It
was decided that Sue Lindsay would send out a profile questionnaire by email to
all K9Xpress members, and Jane Trainham will publish
them on the website as they come back, in the order received. We can do a new
member either quarterly or monthly, depending on how quickly the questionnaires
are returned.
Field Locks:
Suzanne purchased locks that were not changeable, as they were advertised. Kim Galusha will get the new locks, and Suzanne will follow up
with her on that business.
CleanRun ad: Sue Lindsay is working on the ad, and will send a copy of the
proposed ad to the board when it is finished. Upon approval, it will be sent to
Tricia Hastings and she will place the ad in CleanRun.
Automatic Timers:
Wade Pelton has looked into cost of purchase vs.
continued rental of automatic timers. At this time, it seems best to keep
renting the equipment as needed, since we use automatic timers about twice a
year. The cost of purchase is about 7,000.00, and rental is about 500.00.
New
Business:
Work day at the field: Bill will be consulted
to figure out a work day at the field, to do general clean up and maintenance.
We need to pull weeds, reattach canopies, retape the
chute, and tape and install the new tire jumps.
After the work day, we can schedule a
delivery of a new load of mulch for the field.
Wikazri field –
possible buyout of Cynthia’s interest: It was decided that Tricia
Hastings will send a letter on the board’s behalf to both Kim and Cynthia
to see if there is any interest in the sale of part ownership in the Wikazri property. Further action on the part of K9Xpress
will be based on the response to that letter.
First aid kits: Tricia Hastings has purchased
two first aid kits for the club, one for canines and one for people. It was
decided not to purchase a large kit for trials at this time. Wade Pelton will check with Karen Kimbrough to see if she will
continue to bring her extensive first aid kit to trials.
Open
Discussion:
Request for
charitable donation to City of Austin Norwood dog park:
There was a unanimous vote by the board to deny the request for a cash donation
to Norwood Park, a City of Austin dog park. This decision was based primarily
on the Austin K9Xpress Agility Club objectives, which are set out in the
Bylaws, Article I, Section 2: as follows:
To promote the
training of purebred dogs
Disseminate
knowledge regarding agility training
Conduct classes for
the training of dogs and their handlers
Encourage the
training of judges
Hold and support
agility trials and matches under the rules and regulations of the American
Kennel Club
Promote cooperation
and good sportsmanship among its members in the training and exhibition of dogs
Jane Trainham will notify Lori Fennell of the board’s
decision.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:14 p.m.
